Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the female resident population in Canberra Region Extended in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Public Administration and Safety (48,178 females or 22.1%)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance (42,409 females or 19.5%)
  • Education and Training (28,052 females or 12.9%)

In combination, these three industries employed 118,639 females in total or 54.5% of the total employed female resident population.

In comparison, Bega Valley Shire employed 5.2% in Public Administration and Safety; 25.0% in Health Care and Social Assistance; and 12.1% in Education and Training.

The major differences between the jobs held by the female population of Canberra Region Extended and Bega Valley Shire were:

  • A larger percentage of females employed in public administration and safety (22.1% compared to 5.2%)
  • A smaller percentage of females employed in health care and social assistance (19.5% compared to 25.0%)
  • A smaller percentage of females employed in retail trade (8.5% compared to 13.0%)
