Central Coast Council area

Overseas born - Introduction

In 2011, there were 43,791 overseas born people living in the Central Coast Council area.

This population includes anyone who stated a birthplace country other than Australia or its territories on their Census form.

The population born overseas is an extremely important one in Australia, as immigration is integral to our national identity, and has increased markedly since 2006. Information on migrant communities is vital for planning local government activities such as community services, library collections, translation services, as well as planning for types of dwellings and community infrastructure.

Derived from the Census question:

'In which country was the person born?'

Data notes

For dwelling related topics (household type, household income, bedrooms etc), only household members who state an overseas birthplace are included in the table. If more than one household member was born overseas, there will be multiple counts for the same household in the table. People who did not answer the birthplace question are excluded.
