In 2011, 74.1% of people born overseas in the Central Coast Council area were in households with access to a broadband internet connection.

A fast Internet Connection is increasingly required for accessing essential information and undertaking domestic and non-domestic business. This dataset indicates how many people who were born overseas and live in the Central Coast Council area have access to the internet from home.

Internet connectivity is strongly associated with the Age and Education levels of the migrant population, and language issues may also be a barrier to access, particularly among older communities. Dominant groups

Analysis of the type of internet connection of households for people born overseas in the Central Coast Council area compared to Greater Sydney, shows that there was a higher proportion of people born overseas with no access to an internet connection, and a lower proportion with broadband connectivity.

Overall 16.7% of people born overseas had no access to an internet connection, and 74.1% had broadband connectivity, compared with 12.5% and 78.8% respectively in Greater Sydney.

Emerging groups

Between 2006 and 2011, access to an internet connection for people born overseas increased by 7,986.

The largest changes in the internet connectivity for households consisting of people born overseas in the Central Coast Council area, between 2006 and 2011 were:
