A fast Internet Connection is increasingly required for accessing essential information and undertaking domestic and non-domestic business. This dataset indicates how many people in the non-English speaking communities in the Central Coast Council area have access to the internet from home.

Internet connectivity is strongly associated with the Age and Education levels of the migrant population, and language issues may also be a barrier to access, particularly among older communities. Dominant groups

Analysis of the type of internet connection of households for non-English speakers in the Central Coast Council area compared to Greater Sydney, shows that there was a higher proportion of non-English speakers with no access to an internet connection, and a lower proportion with broadband connectivity.

Overall 15.5% of non-English speakers had no access to an internet connection and 74.3% had broadband connectivity, compared with 11.8% and 79.6% respectively in Greater Sydney.

Between 2006 and 2011, access to an internet connection for non-English speakers increased by 3,962.
