Dominant groups
An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Wyong in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:
- Health Care and Social Assistance (303 people or 18.0%)
- Retail Trade (183 people or 10.9%)
- Construction (157 people or 9.3%)
In combination, these three industries employed 643 people in total or 38.3% of the total employed resident population.
In comparison, Central Coast Council area employed 17.8% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 10.2% in Retail Trade; and 11.5% in Construction.
The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Wyong and Central Coast Council area were:
- A larger percentage of persons employed in manufacturing (8.0% compared to 5.9%)
- A smaller percentage of persons employed in education and training (5.5% compared to 8.2%)
- A smaller percentage of persons employed in construction (9.3% compared to 11.5%)
- A smaller percentage of persons employed in professional, scientific and technical services (4.6% compared to 6.0%)
Emerging groups
The number of employed people in Wyong increased by 189 between 2016 and 2021.
The largest change in the jobs held by the resident population between 2016 and 2021 in Wyong was for those employed in:
- Health Care and Social Assistance (+73 persons)
