Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Mountains in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (251 people or 13.5%)
  • Construction (206 people or 11.1%)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance (202 people or 10.9%)

In combination, these three industries employed 659 people in total or 35.6% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, Central Coast Council area employed 0.8% in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing; 11.5% in Construction; and 17.8% in Health Care and Social Assistance.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Mountains and Central Coast Council area were:

  • A larger percentage of persons employed in agriculture, forestry and fishing (13.5% compared to 0.8%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons employed in health care and social assistance (10.9% compared to 17.8%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons employed in retail trade (7.2% compared to 10.2%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons employed in public administration and safety (3.8% compared to 6.1%)

The number of employed people in Mountains increased by 38 between 2016 and 2021.
