Dominant groups

Analysis of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander service age groups in the Central Coast Council area in 2016 compared to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander population in New South Wales - ATSI shows that there was a higher proportion of people in the younger age groups (0 to 17 years) and a similar proportion of people in the older age group (65+ years).

Overall, 41.9% of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander population in the Central Coast Council area was aged between 0 and 17, and 5.2% were aged 65 years and over, compared with 40.8% and 5.4% respectively for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander population in New South Wales - ATSI.
