Central Coast Council area

Life-stages - Internet connection

In the Central Coast Council area, 80.8% of children aged 0 to 4 years were in households with access to a broadband internet connection.

A fast Internet Connection is increasingly required for accessing essential information and undertaking domestic and non-domestic business. Households with dial-up or no internet service are being left behind in the digital divide as both government and the private sector are increasingly conducting their business, or aspects of it, on-line.

Internet connectivity is generally correlated with age, with younger populations more likely to be online than the elderly. However, differences in internet connectivity in the Central Coast Council area for any given age group can be affected by availability of the type of internet connection, Education and Household Income levels.

Derived from the Census question:

'Does any member of this household access the internet from this dwelling'

Children aged 0 to 4 years, counted in private dwellings
