Dominant groups

Analysis of the language spoken at home by the population of Narre Warren South in 2016 compared to the City of Casey shows that there was a larger proportion of people who spoke English only, and a smaller proportion of those speaking a non-English language (either exclusively, or in addition to English).

Overall, 62.1% of the population spoke English only, and 34.0% spoke a non-English language, compared with 59.2% and 35.8% respectively for the City of Casey.

The dominant language spoken at home, other than English, in Narre Warren South was Persian/Dari, with 6.8% of the population, or 2,041 people speaking this language at home.

The major difference between the languages spoken at home for the population of Narre Warren South and the City of Casey in 2016 was:

  • A larger percentage speaking Persian/Dari at home (6.8% compared to 3.9%)
