Dominant groups

Analysis of the language spoken at home by the population of Hallam in 2011 compared to the City of Casey shows that there was a smaller proportion of people who spoke English only, and a larger proportion of those speaking a non-English language (either exclusively, or in addition to English).

Overall, 46.6% of the population spoke English only, and 49.9% spoke a non-English language, compared with 66.5% and 29.9% respectively for the City of Casey.

The dominant language spoken at home, other than English, in Hallam was Persian/Dari, with 6.0% of the population, or 617 people speaking this language at home.

The major differences between the languages spoken at home for the population of Hallam and the City of Casey in 2011 were:
