Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the male resident population in City of Canning in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Construction (2,610 males or 10.2%)
  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (2,376 males or 9.3%)
  • Transport, Postal and Warehousing (2,298 males or 9.0%)

In combination, these three industries employed 7,284 males in total or 28.4% of the total employed male resident population.

In comparison, Greater Perth employed 14.3% in Construction; 8.6% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services; and 6.7% in Transport, Postal and Warehousing.

The major differences between the jobs held by the male population of the City of Canning and Greater Perth were:

  • A larger percentage of males employed in accommodation and food services (7.9% compared to 5.6%)
  • A larger percentage of males employed in transport, postal and warehousing (9.0% compared to 6.7%)
  • A smaller percentage of males employed in construction (10.2% compared to 14.3%)
