Dominant groups
Analysis of individual income levels in St James in 2021 compared to the City of Canning shows that there was a similar proportion of people earning a high income (those earning $2,000 per week or more) and a lower proportion of low income people (those earning less than $500 per week).
Overall, 12.2% of the population earned a high income, and 29.5% earned a low income, compared with 11.9% and 35.4% respectively for the City of Canning.
The major differences between St James's individual incomes and the City of Canning's individual incomes were:
- A larger percentage of persons who earned $2,000 - $2,999 (9.0% compared to 7.6%)
- A larger percentage of persons who earned $1,000 - $1,249 (10.2% compared to 8.9%)
- A smaller percentage of persons who earned Negative Income/ Nil income (8.3% compared to 11.8%)
- A smaller percentage of persons who earned $1 - $149 (2.7% compared to 4.0%)
