Dominant groups

Analysis of the male service age groups of the Town of Cambridge in 2021 compared to City Beach shows that there was a similar proportion of males in the younger age groups (0 to 17 years) and a lower proportion of males in the older age groups (60+ years).

Overall, 25.7% of the male population was aged between 0 and 17, and 22.8% were aged 60 years and over, compared with 25.4% and 28.5% respectively for City Beach.

The major differences between the male age structure of the Town of Cambridge and City Beach were:

  • A larger percentage of 'Parents and homebuilders' (20.0% compared to 14.3%)
  • A larger percentage of 'Young workforce' (9.8% compared to 6.4%)
  • A smaller percentage of 'Secondary schoolers' (10.2% compared to 13.0%)
  • A smaller percentage of 'Older workers & pre-retirees' (14.0% compared to 16.6%)

From 2016 to 2021, Town of Cambridge's male population increased by 936 people (7.1%). This represents an average annual population change of 1.39% per year over the period.
