Dominant groups

Analysis of household income levels for recent arrivals in the City of Burnside shows that there was a similar proportion of recent arrivals in high income households (those earning $3,000 per week or more) and a higher proportion in low income households (those earning less than $799 per week) compared to Greater Adelaide in 2021.

Overall, 20.8% of recent arrivals were in households that earned a high income, and 14.5% were in low income households, compared with 20.9% and 12.9% respectively for Greater Adelaide.

The major differences between household income levels of recent arrivals in the City of Burnside and Greater Adelaide were:

  • A larger percentage of people in households who earned $4,500 - $4,999 (4.9% compared to 3.1%)
  • A larger percentage of people in households who earned Neg/Nil Income (4.6% compared to 3.1%)
