Dominant groups

Analysis of the qualifications of the population in Division 4 in 2021 compared to Division 9 shows that there was a lower proportion of people holding formal qualifications (Bachelor or higher degree; Advanced Diploma or Diploma; or Vocational qualifications), and a higher proportion of people with no formal qualifications.

Overall, 39.2% of the population aged 15 and over held educational qualifications, and 47.5% had no qualifications, compared with 45.3% and 45.4% respectively for Division 9.

The major differences between qualifications held by the population of Division 4 and Division 9 were:

  • A larger percentage of persons with No qualifications (47.5% compared to 45.4%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons with Vocational qualifications (22.2% compared to 26.0%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons with Bachelor or Higher degrees (11.1% compared to 12.4%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons with Advanced Diploma or Diplomas (5.8% compared to 6.9%)

Emerging groups

The largest changes in the qualifications of the population in Division 4 between 2016 and 2021 were in those with:

  • Vocational qualifications (+220 persons)
  • Bachelor or Higher degrees (+201 persons)
  • No qualifications (-146 persons)
