Dominant groups

Analysis of the household/family types in Brisbane LGA in 2011 compared to Greater Brisbane shows that there was a lower proportion of couple families with child(ren) as well as a lower proportion of one-parent families. Overall, 29.7% of total families were couple families with child(ren), and 9.5% were one-parent families, compared with 32.0% and 11.1% respectively for Greater Brisbane.

There were a higher proportion of lone person households and a lower proportion of couples without children. Overall, the proportion of lone person households was 23.0% compared to 21.0% in Greater Brisbane while the proportion of couples without children was 24.7% compared to 25.5% in Greater Brisbane.
