Name origin

Ellen Grove is named after Ellen Dabing, grandmother of R P Spinks who subdivided the land in 1959.

Settlement history

Settlement of the area dates from the mid 1800s, although the area remained largely rural until 1959. Rapid growth took place from the early 1990s, a result of large numbers of new dwellings being added to the area, particularly from Delfin's Forest Lake estate.
