Bridgeman Downs is bounded by the South Pine River and Roghan Road in the north, Ridley Road, Cabbage Tree Creek, Trouts Road and Chermside Hills Reserve in the east, the suburb of McDowall, Saturn Crescent and Galaxy Street in the south, and the Moreton Bay Regional Council area and Albany Creek in the west.

Name origin

Bridgeman Downs is named after Henry St John Bridgeman, an original property owner in the area.

Settlement history

Settlement of the area dates from 1860, with land used mainly for farming. Significant development did not occur until the 1970s. Rapid growth took place during the 1990s, with the population quadrupling between 1991 and 2001. Population growth continued between 2001 and 2006, although at a slower rate, a result of new dwellings continuing to be added to the area.

Bridgeman Downs is a rapidly developing residential area, with undeveloped areas in the north.
