Annerley is bounded by Cornwall Street in the north, the Pacific Motorway, Willis Street, Ekibin Road East and Tarragindi Road in the east, Percy Street, Woodville Place, Wonderlost Outlook, Tennessee Avenue, Eric Crescent, Clifton Street, Ipswich Road and Villa Street in the south, and Oakwood Street, Taunton Street, Broadmere Street, Venner Road and the Beenleigh railway line in the west.

Name origin

Annerley is named after a town in England.

Settlement history

Settlement of the area dates from 1857, with land used mainly for dairy farming and orcharding. Growth took place during the 1880s and 1890s, aided by the opening of the railway line and the extension of the tramline. Significant development occurred during the post-war years, particularly from the 1970s when many townhouses and units were built. The population has increased slightly since the mid 1990s, a result of new dwellings being added to the area.

Annerley is an established residential area, with some commercial areas along Ipswich Road.
