Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Sunshine District in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (2,341 people or 11.6%)
  • Retail Trade (1,934 people or 9.6%)
  • Manufacturing (1,932 people or 9.5%)

In combination, these three industries employed 6,207 people in total or 30.7% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, the City of Brimbank employed 11.3% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 10.2% in Retail Trade; and 9.6% in Manufacturing.

The major difference between the jobs held by the population of the Sunshine District and the City of Brimbank was:

  • A smaller percentage of persons employed in construction (8.0% compared to 9.1%)
