Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Sunshine District in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (2,341 people or 11.6%)
  • Retail Trade (1,934 people or 9.6%)
  • Manufacturing (1,932 people or 9.5%)

In combination, these three industries employed 6,207 people in total or 30.7% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, Deer Park employed 12.2% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 9.6% in Retail Trade; and 10.0% in Manufacturing.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of the Sunshine District and Deer Park were:

  • A larger percentage of persons employed in accommodation and food services (7.1% compared to 5.8%)
  • A larger percentage of persons employed in education and training (6.5% compared to 5.3%)
