Analysis of car ownership in 2021, indicates 64% of households in the Sydenham District had access to two or more motor vehicles, compared to 39% in Sunshine.

The ability of the population to access services and employment is strongly influenced by access to transport. Dominant groups

Analysis of the car ownership of the households in the Sydenham District in 2021 compared to Sunshine shows that 91.3% of the households owned at least one car, while 4.1% did not, compared with 80.9% and 11.5% respectively in Sunshine.

Of those that owned at least one vehicle, there was a smaller proportion who owned just one car; a larger proportion who owned two cars; and a larger proportion who owned three cars or more.

Overall, 27.4% of the households owned one car; 36.6% owned two cars; and 27.3% owned three cars or more, compared with 41.4%; 28.3% and 11.2% respectively for Sunshine.
