There were more professionals in Hawthorn in 2021 than any other occupation.

Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Hawthorn in 2021 shows the three most popular occupations were:

  • Professionals (5,627 people or 42.7%)
  • Managers (2,257 people or 17.1%)
  • Clerical and Administrative Workers (1,509 people or 11.4%)

In combination these three occupations accounted for 9,393 people in total or 71.3% of the employed resident population.

In comparison, Deepdene employed 39.2% in Professionals; 21.8% in Managers; and 11.4% in Clerical and Administrative Workers.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Hawthorn and Deepdene were:

  • A larger percentage of persons employed as Professionals (42.7% compared to 39.2%)
  • A larger percentage of persons employed as Community and Personal Service Workers (8.6% compared to 6.7%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons employed as Managers (17.1% compared to 21.8%)
