Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Ward 3 in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (4,660 people or 15.5%)
  • Retail Trade (2,950 people or 9.8%)
  • Transport, Postal and Warehousing (2,816 people or 9.4%)

In combination, these three industries employed 10,426 people in total or 34.7% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, Marayong employed 14.9% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 10.2% in Retail Trade; and 10.8% in Transport, Postal and Warehousing.

The major difference between the jobs held by the population of Ward 3 and Marayong was:

  • A smaller percentage of persons employed in transport, postal and warehousing (9.4% compared to 10.8%)

Emerging groups

The number of employed people in Ward 3 increased by 52 between 2016 and 2021.

The largest changes in the jobs held by the resident population between 2016 and 2021 in Ward 3 were for those employed in:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (+626 persons)
  • Transport, Postal and Warehousing (+449 persons)
  • Accommodation and Food Services (-399 persons)
  • Construction (-254 persons)
