Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by recent overseas arrivals in Blacktown City in 2021 shows the three most popular occupations were:

  • Professionals (4,472 persons or 29.1%)
  • Machinery Operators And Drivers (2,285 persons or 14.9%)
  • Labourers (1,716 persons or 11.2%)

In combination these three occupations accounted for 8,473 people in total or 55.1% of the employed recent overseas arrivals.

In comparison, Greater Sydney employed 30.5% in Professionals; 7.0% in Machinery Operators And Drivers; and 12.7% in Labourers.

The major differences between the jobs held by the recent overseas arriving population of Blacktown City and Greater Sydney were:

  • A larger percentage of people employed as Machinery Operators And Drivers (14.9% compared to 7.0%)
  • A smaller percentage of people employed as Managers (7.8% compared to 9.4%)
