Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the female resident population in Ward 5 in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (1,144 females or 19.1%)
  • Education and Training (712 females or 11.9%)
  • Retail Trade (601 females or 10.0%)

In combination, these three industries employed 2,457 females in total or 41.0% of the total employed female resident population.

In comparison, Bayside Council area employed 19.3% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 10.8% in Education and Training; and 10.2% in Retail Trade.

The major differences between the jobs held by the female population of Ward 5 and Bayside Council area were:

  • A larger percentage of females employed in transport, postal and warehousing (5.9% compared to 4.7%)
  • A larger percentage of females employed in education and training (11.9% compared to 10.8%)
  • A smaller percentage of females employed in accommodation and food services (5.0% compared to 6.7%)
