Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the male resident population in City of Bayside in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (4,315 males or 16.9%)
  • Construction (3,126 males or 12.2%)
  • Retail Trade (2,066 males or 8.1%)

In combination, these three industries employed 9,507 males in total or 37.1% of the total employed male resident population.

In comparison, Greater Melbourne employed 10.3% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services; 15.2% in Construction; and 8.1% in Retail Trade.

The major differences between the jobs held by the male population of the City of Bayside and Greater Melbourne were:

  • A larger percentage of males employed in professional, scientific and technical services (16.9% compared to 10.3%)
