Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Wonthaggi District in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (637 people or 18.6%)
  • Retail Trade (529 people or 15.4%)
  • Construction (444 people or 13.0%)

In combination, these three industries employed 1,610 people in total or 47.0% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, Bass Coast Shire employed 14.8% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 10.4% in Retail Trade; and 12.9% in Construction.
