Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Rural Balance in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (270 people or 16.4%)
  • Construction (219 people or 13.3%)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance (215 people or 13.0%)

In combination, these three industries employed 704 people in total or 42.7% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, Bass Coast Shire employed 4.4% in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing; 12.9% in Construction; and 14.8% in Health Care and Social Assistance.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Rural Balance and Bass Coast Shire were:

  • A larger percentage of persons employed in agriculture, forestry and fishing (16.4% compared to 4.4%)
