Dominant groups

Analysis of the language spoken at home by the population of Panania in 2011 compared to Bankstown City shows that there was a larger proportion of people who spoke English only, and a smaller proportion of those speaking a non-English language (either exclusively, or in addition to English).

Overall, 68.8% of the population spoke English only, and 27.3% spoke a non-English language, compared with 39.7% and 54.7% respectively for Bankstown City.

The dominant language spoken at home, other than English, in Panania was Arabic, with 6.1% of the population, or 706 people speaking this language at home.

The major differences between the languages spoken at home for the population of Panania and Bankstown City in 2011 were:
