Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Australian Capital Territory in 2021 shows the three most popular occupations were:

  • Professionals (78,121 people or 31.5%)
  • Managers (44,363 people or 17.9%)
  • Clerical and Administrative Workers (36,128 people or 14.5%)

In combination these three occupations accounted for 158,612 people in total or 63.9% of the employed resident population.

In comparison, Victoria employed 25.0% in Professionals; 14.0% in Managers; and 12.4% in Clerical and Administrative Workers.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Australian Capital Territory and Victoria were:

  • A larger percentage of persons employed as Professionals (31.5% compared to 25.0%)
  • A larger percentage of persons employed as Managers (17.9% compared to 14.0%)
