Dominant groups
Analysis of the need for assistance of females in Australia compared to Victoria shows that there was a lower proportion of females who reported needing assistance with core activities.
Overall, 5.6% of the female population reported needing assistance with core activities, compared with 6.3% for Victoria.
The major difference in the female age groups reporting a need for assistance in Greater Sydney and Victoria is:
- A smaller percentage of females aged 85 and over (51.9% compared to 55.8%)
Emerging groups
The major differences in the female age groups reporting a need for assistance between 2016 and 2021 in Greater Sydney were in the age groups:
- 70 to 74 (+3,849 females)
- 80 to 84 (+2,836 females)
- 75 to 79 (+2,602 females)
- 65 to 69 (+2,219 females)
