Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Shire of Ashburton in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Mining (1,853 people or 48.3%)
  • Construction (323 people or 8.4%)
  • Education and Training (254 people or 6.6%)

In combination, these three industries employed 2,430 people in total or 63.3% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, Regional WA employed 11.3% in Mining; 8.5% in Construction; and 8.6% in Education and Training.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of the Shire of Ashburton and Regional WA were:
