Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in CAD West in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Accommodation and Food Services (429 people or 22.3%)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance (248 people or 12.9%)
  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (223 people or 11.6%)

In combination, these three industries employed 900 people in total or 46.9% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, the City of Adelaide employed 13.4% in Accommodation and Food Services; 15.1% in Health Care and Social Assistance; and 14.0% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of CAD West and the City of Adelaide were:

  • A larger percentage of persons employed in accommodation and food services (22.3% compared to 13.4%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons employed in education and training (6.9% compared to 9.7%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons employed in public administration and safety (4.0% compared to 6.5%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons employed in professional, scientific and technical services (11.6% compared to 14.0%)

The number of employed people in CAD West increased by 914 between 2016 and 2021.

The largest changes in the jobs held by the resident population between 2016 and 2021 in CAD West were for those employed in:

  • Accommodation and Food Services (+168 persons)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance (+145 persons)
  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (+130 persons)
  • Retail Trade (+61 persons)
