Dominant groups

Analysis of the household/family types in CAD West in 2021 compared to South East Overlay shows that there was a lower proportion of couple families with child(ren) as well as a lower proportion of one-parent families. Overall, 3.6% of total families were couple families with child(ren), and 2.8% were one-parent families, compared with 8.5% and 5.8% respectively for South East Overlay.

There were a higher proportion of lone person households and a lower proportion of couples without children. Overall, the proportion of lone person households was 44.0% compared to 38.6% in South East Overlay while the proportion of couples without children was 19.5% compared to 29.5% in South East Overlay.

The number of households in CAD West increased by 700 between 2016 and 2021.

The largest changes in family/household types in CAD West between 2016 and 2021 were:
