Dominant groups

Analysis of the household/family types in City South in 2021 compared to CAD West shows that there was a higher proportion of couple families with child(ren) as well as a higher proportion of one-parent families. Overall, 6.7% of total families were couple families with child(ren), and 4.4% were one-parent families, compared with 3.6% and 2.8% respectively for CAD West.

There were a lower proportion of lone person households and a higher proportion of couples without children. Overall, the proportion of lone person households was 40.1% compared to 44.0% in CAD West while the proportion of couples without children was 27.6% compared to 19.5% in CAD West.

The number of households in City South increased by 777 between 2016 and 2021.
