Dominant groups
Analysis of the five year age groups of CAD East in 2021 compared to the City of Adelaide shows that there was a lower proportion of people in the younger age groups (under 15) as well as a lower proportion of people in the older age groups (65+).
Overall, 4.2% of the population was aged between 0 and 15, and 11.0% were aged 65 years and over, compared with 6.1% and 15.8% respectively for the City of Adelaide.
The major differences between the age structure of CAD East and the City of Adelaide were:
- A larger percentage of persons aged 20 to 24 (23.6% compared to 16.6%)
- A larger percentage of persons aged 25 to 29 (17.7% compared to 13.5%)
- A smaller percentage of persons aged 70 to 74 (2.9% compared to 4.4%)
- A smaller percentage of persons aged 85 and over (0.7% compared to 2.0%)
Emerging groups
From 2006 to 2021, CAD East's population increased by 2,430 people (125.8%). This represents an average annual population change of 5.58% per year over the period.
The largest changes in age structure in this area between 2006 and 2021 were in the age groups:
- 20 to 24 (+586 persons)
- 25 to 29 (+500 persons)
- 30 to 34 (+216 persons)
- 35 to 39 (+156 persons)
