Dominant groups

Analysis of the share of the female population attending educational institutions in the City of Adelaide in 2021 compared to Greater Adelaide shows that there was a lower proportion attending primary school, a lower proportion attending secondary school, and a higher proportion engaged in tertiary level education.

Overall, 2.6% of the female population were attending primary school, 2.0% of the female population were attending secondary institutions, and 27.8% were learning at a tertiary level, compared with 8.0%, 5.7% and 8.7% respectively for Greater Adelaide.

The major differences between the share of the female population attending learning institutions in the City of Adelaide and Greater Adelaide were:

  • A larger percentage of females attending University (24.6% compared to 6.3%)
  • A smaller percentage of females not attending (58.5% compared to 71.4%)
  • A smaller percentage of females attending a primary school (any type) (2.6% compared to 8.0%)
  • A smaller percentage of females attending a secondary school (any type) (2.0% compared to 5.7%)
