Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Rural West in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (300 people or 23.4%)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance (147 people or 11.5%)
  • Construction (122 people or 9.5%)

In combination, these three industries employed 569 people in total or 44.4% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, Turvey Park employed 1.6% in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing; 19.9% in Health Care and Social Assistance; and 9.4% in Construction.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Rural West and Turvey Park were:

  • A larger percentage of persons employed in agriculture, forestry and fishing (23.4% compared to 1.6%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons employed in health care and social assistance (11.5% compared to 19.9%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons employed in education and training (8.7% compared to 15.7%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons employed in accommodation and food services (4.0% compared to 6.7%)
