Dominant groups
An analysis of the jobs held by the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander resident population in Wagga Wagga City Council in 2021 shows the three most popular occupations were:
- Community and Personal Service Workers (361 people or 22.6%)
- Technicians and Trades Workers (224 people or 14.1%)
- Professionals (217 people or 13.6%)
In combination these three occupations accounted for 802 people in total or 50.3% of the employed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander resident population.
The major differences between the occupations held by the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander population of Wagga Wagga City and the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander of Australia were:
- A larger percentage of people employed as Community and Personal Service Workers (22.6% compared to 17.4%)
- A smaller percentage of people employed as Clerical and Administrative Workers (9.1% compared to 11.8%)
- A smaller percentage of people employed as Machinery Operators And Drivers (6.5% compared to 9.0%)
