Dominant groups

Analysis of the household/family types in Ultimo in 2021 compared to Paddington shows that there was a lower proportion of couple families with child(ren) as well as a lower proportion of one-parent families. Overall, 9.7% of total families were couple families with child(ren), and 4.8% were one-parent families, compared with 18.5% and 6.0% respectively for Paddington.

There were a lower proportion of lone person households and a lower proportion of couples without children. Overall, the proportion of lone person households was 34.3% compared to 36.2% in Paddington while the proportion of couples without children was 25.5% compared to 26.4% in Paddington.

Emerging groups

The number of households in Ultimo decreased by 293 between 2016 and 2021.
