Dominant groups
The size of West Ryde's labour force in 2021 was 6,940, of which 1,817 were employed part-time and 4,000 were full time workers.
Analysis of the employment status (as a percentage of the labour force) in West Ryde in 2021 compared to Macquarie Park shows that there was a higher proportion in employment, and a lower proportion unemployed. Overall, 94.3% of the labour force was employed, and 5.7% unemployed, compared with 92.2% and 7.8% respectively for Macquarie Park.
Analysis of the labour force participation rate of the population in West Ryde in 2021 shows that there was a lower proportion in the labour force (63.2%) compared with Macquarie Park (68.8%).
Emerging groups
Between 2016 and 2021, the number of people employed in West Ryde showed a decrease of 354, and the number unemployed showed a decrease of 85. In the same period, the number of people in the labour force showed a decrease of 439 or 5.9%.
